C.H.A.O.S. SAFETY PROGRAM
Attend the C.H.A.O.S. Safety Seminar
The Certified Haunted Attraction Operator Safety (C.H.A.O.S.) Program is the Haunted Attraction Association (HAA)’s safety course that is recommended to anyone running a haunted attraction. Each year, HAA partners with TransWorld to offer safety classes haunt professionals can attend to fulfill their requirement for certification.
Individuals must complete eight hours in order to receive their certification. Once they have completed the eight hours, they will receive a certificate that can be used to show their fire marshal, insurance carrier, and local authority their desire to run a safe haunted attraction. Each person has to attend the 8 hours individually and hour credits are not shared between staff from the same haunt.
Part of the mandatory requirements of the HAA Top Haunts program is that at least one person has to have a current CHAOS certification on the staff. HAA members that have multiple haunts in different locations have to have a person CHAOS certified for each location to qualify for Top Haunts.
Effective March 2020, all CHAOS certificates are valid and current for 3 years. All previously issued CHAOS certificates will expire and will expire and not be considered current after March of 2023.

State of the Industry Seminar at Transworld in March
The HAA Board of Directors Join HAA members in an open discussion about the past haunt season and the upcoming season. Each year the seminar is moderated by the President of the Association. We discuss HAA’s Strategic Plan with a keynote as well as talk about what went right and what went wrong. Be prepared to ask questions and share your own experiences. This is a must attend seminar – hear what other haunters are doing across the U.S. and abroad from marketing to safety to operational tips. It will be packed with valuable information for every haunter whether you are a beginner or a long time haunt veteran. Excellent networking opportunity.

HAA LIVE AUCTION at TW
The Haunted Attraction Association’s Live Auction is held annually to raise money for the association to provide members with an array of great benefits.
Each year, vendors donate some of their most popular, expensive, and prestigious props, animatronics, and services to our auction, making it a great place to land big items for a great deal! Since the auction takes place on Friday evening at TransWorld’s HAA Show, you will still have two days on the show floor to purchase any items you wanted but didn’t win! There’s no reason not to stop by and see what we have going up for bid!

Vendor Excellence Award: The Vendor Excellence Award is conferred upon a distinguished vendor in the Haunt Industry, recognized for their outstanding track record of Exceptional Customer Service and delivery of High-Quality Products. Nominees in this category should also be celebrated as innovators within their craft, consistently introducing novel and original items to enhance the range and satisfaction of their customers.
Haunted Attractions Board of Directors Award: The Board of Directors Award, determined through the votes of HAA Board Members, is an annual recognition presented to a Haunted Attraction that has prominently distinguished itself in the industry. Nominees are selected based on criteria such as Innovation, Creativity, Efficiency, and potentially Growth. This award aims to spotlight attractions that serve as exemplars to others through their exceptional performance in Production, Marketing, and Operations.
Special Recognition Award: The Special Recognition Award is given to an individual who has contributed to the success of the Haunted Attraction Industry as a whole. Nominees in this category have, over the past year, stepped up and stood out in some way in performing a service that elevated the Industry.
Home Haunt Excellence Award: This accolade is bestowed upon a Home Haunt that not only stands out but also redefines the boundaries of what a Home Haunt can achieve. Nominees are evaluated for their exceptional originality, overall quality, and the extent to which they contribute to their community.
Lifetime Achievement Award: The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual with a tenure of at least 30 years (or a specified duration) in the industry, embodying the essence of a true Haunter. Throughout their extensive career, they have consistently set an exemplary standard, regardless of their roles within the industry. Their impact extends beyond personal accomplishments, as they have continuously uplifted and inspired those working alongside them. Their willingness to share knowledge reflects a commitment to fostering growth and excellence in the haunted attraction community.
